CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — Mouth-watering Mediterranean dishes beyond baba ganoush and hummus await you in Old Town Clovis at Tete’s Kitchen.

Co-owner Annabelle Gharibeh serves grandma’s recipes to locals and customers from the Middle East.

“When I got customers like that, I look for their reaction because they know,” she said.

Falafel “fries” are a fave.

“They’re shaped differently,” Gharibeh said. “The seasoning is also different.”

Kebabs fired up on grill include beef, chicken and lamb.

The recipes are guarded closely.

The garlic sauce is intense, and so are the garlic fries.

“You’re getting real garlic with olive oil, that’s what we use,” Gharibeh said.

The Friday specials offer traditional tastes, such as the molokhia with beef.

“It’s Egyptian spinach if you translate it to that,” Gharibeh said.

There are so many choices — including vegan options.

“When they ask, I’ll make a plate like this or a spread of different things to try different ones,” Gharibeh said.

Homemade baklava and kanafe will put a smile on your face.

“I put two different cheeses inside,” Gharibeh said. “It’s the same dough for the baklava, but shredded.”

It’s perfect with very strong Turkish coffee.

Dreams of a family-run eatery started when Annabelle was young.
