The Permanent Representation of Italy to International Organizations in Paris organized a series of events on the occasion of the 10th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, an event promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation dedicated this year to the theme “Italian cuisine between culture, health and innovation.”
The main initiative featured DonPasta: a DJ, economist, anthropologist and gastronomy enthusiast who, with his famous show Food Sound System, has been bringing a vibrant tale of Italian cuisine around the world for over fifteen years. a cuisine firmly rooted in the past, made of stories, recipes, family memories and cultural transmission. The New York Times has called him “one of food’s most inventive activists.”
In welcoming the audience, Ambassador Luca Sabbatucci emphasized that “the extraordinary variety of Italian cuisine, which between North and South presents traditions and uses of products that are also very different, constitutes a unique richness and one of the reasons behind the candidacy of Italian Cuisine as a Unesco Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Italian gastronomic tradition represents not only a taste experience but, the ambassador concluded, “a true art of living, based on the balance between pleasure, health and conviviality.”
