Earlier this year i wanted to grow sweet potatoes but for the life of me i could not get any of the sweet potatoes i got from the store to grow slips. So, i went to my local asian grocery store where i knew they sold "kamote" leaves, i.e. sweet potato leaves. i rooted them in water and planted them.
7 months later i dig this out. not what i was expecting lol. any ideas? are any sweet potato varieties toxic?

It looks like a white version of the murasaki variety i grow every year. Last year I had one that was almost 6lbs!

The tubers of sweet potato grown for leaves aren’t tasty imo. I tried one grown from leaves sold in Chinese grocery store, and it’s quite bland.
There are a lot of different varieties of sweet potato and usually they’re either selected for growing good tubers or growing good foliage, not both. That said, it’s not going to be toxic, just probably not fantastic taste/texture.
