Argentinian wine powerhouse Catena and Catena Zapata have appointed the newly re-named Enotria as their exclusive UK importer and distributor, effective from 1 January 2026.
The portfolio, which was previously handled by Bibendum, will now sit within Enotria’s fine wine stable as part of a strategic push to expand the presence of Argentina’s high-altitude wines in both the premium on-trade and independent retail.
Dr Laura Catena, MD of Catena Zapata, paid tribute to the producer’s outgoing partner while signalling a fresh chapter for the brand.
“We are deeply grateful to Bibendum for their years of partnership and dedication to our wines,” she said.
“Looking ahead, we are excited to begin a new chapter with Enotria. Their vision, expertise, and commitment to fine wine will help us continue to elevate Argentine wine and delight the UK’s wine lovers.”
Enotria, which earlier this year was acquired by Majestic Wine Group but continues to operate as a standalone business, will represent the full Catena and Catena Zapata ranges. The portfolio includes the flagship Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino, Adrianna Vineyard’s wines, and the Catena, DV Catena and Catena Appellation series.
John Colley, interim CEO at Enotria, described the partnership as a milestone for the distributor.
“We are honoured to welcome Catena Zapata to our portfolio. Catena is a pioneer not only in Argentina but in the entire world of fine wine. The fact that Laura, the family and the team have entrusted us to represent and grow their brand in the UK speaks volumes for the regard in which Enotria is held and the progress we are making as a business. We are all so excited to be working with Catena to strengthen their presence in the UK, and are looking forward to a long and successful partnership,” he said.
Founded in 1902, Catena is widely credited with elevating Malbec to global prominence and has been recognised for its pioneering work in high-altitude viticulture.
Enotria, founded in 1972 by Remo Nardone as an Italian specialist wine distributor, has grown into one of the UK’s leading premium distributors. Its portfolio spans more than 300 exclusive wine producers and over 1,500 spirits brands, with a customer base which covers independent retailers, fine dining restaurants, bars, hotels and high-profile venues.
