My grandad used to gather snails from his garden when it would rain. I’d go over to nanny and grandad’s on a rainy day and see a metal bucket of snails slithering over each other in the kitchen. He’d fry them up and eat them. He was of Spanish descent.

Snails are awesome, but this seem really messy to eat. In the Spanish and French variant you usually pick up the snails one by one and dig out the snail with a tiny fork. How do you eat this one?

I’ve never had land snails – I thought they were toxic. I’ve only had Vietnamese sea snail dishes, like periwinkles and flower snails

I hope you enjoyed your meal – unfortunately, hard pass for me
