Hi all. Former VertuoNext owner here who is frustrated with the reliability of that machine.
Both of these machines are on sale on Amazon Canada right now for the same price, but can anyone describe the main differences? TIA

Go with the first one. I had the Plus and had to return it for a credit to my account 4 months later due to the pods no longer ejecting because the clamps broke.

The title of the first image is not correct. It is the Vertuo Evoluo. It’s my favorite of the Vertuo machines. Between the 2 options, I’d recommend you select the Evoluo (image 1) for its longevity.
To me, the Evoluo feels like it’s built stronger (the plus feels a bit more fragile when opening/closing it). However, the real difference between the two are design. They both do the job similarly.

Very little. The first one is the evoluo which was the first in the vertuo line. It has a 54oz water reservoir and larger capsule bin. The second one is a newer model called the vertuo plus. It has a 40oz reservoir on the standard and 60oz on the deluxe version. The reservoir can pivot around the machine and isn’t locked into place. It has a motorized open/closed mechanism which some might argue it’s just another thing to break ( I haven’t read any issues about it). I had the evoluo briefly and prefer the look and feel of the newer model. Both brew in the same way and both are solid machines.

The the vertuo vs the vertuo plus, reliability is usually with the vertuo plus side. I’d go with pic 2. I have one and bought other brands of vertuo plus machines for friends and family, no issues. I have an uncle who owns the vertuo in the first Pic, he understands people have had issues with his model but he hasn’t had any.

I’ve had the first one since 2014, and it still works fine. It’s a beast. Love my Evolou.

I just got me a hand me down Evoulo. It’s discontinued but every worker at Nespresso says the machine is a beast and indestructible

The main difference is how the pod tabs go in. The first one you have to manually shift the to open the pod but the second one is just a touch button. Honestly, I love the touch button and returned the first one

I’ve had the first one for about 6 years and i love it! I’ve heard it tends to be better quality and last longer than some of the other machines. Like others said, it’s the evoluo and was the first vertuo machine

Go with the Evoluo or the first model in the VL series with the roundhead design. Both machines are tank like and should prove reliable/durable. My Next and VL Plus Deluxe didn’t last. My VL roundhead model has been great. Same thing for family members.

I had a evoulo and then purchased the plus. The plus felt a little cheap to me so I went back to the evoulo

I just saw Bloomingdale’s is having a sale on the vertuo plus deluxe, it’s only 99.99. I would get that before it ends

I have the black one and it works great

On the next(different machine, but similar top to the first pic), the top twist tab broke for a friend of mine bc coffee grounds got in the mechanism, but my plus worked great with no issues. I’d recommend the plus because it’s less likely to break if coffee grounds

Yeah Next is trash. Bought and returned twice before I realized I didn’t just get a dud. Got a Breville-built VL and been happy with it for 6 years now.

****UPDATE**** I had a 50% off coffee machine student discount code on Nespresso.ca, and ended up getting a CitiZ Platinum + 50 pods for 100$ less than reg. price of a CitiZ machine.
I couldn’t convince myself to jump into another VertuoLine product after all the issues my previous ones have caused me and I read lots of reviews about the Evoluo not brewing hot enough and the Plus leaking water, so I went with OriginalLine
Pretty cool that the CitiZ platinum has Americano and Americano XL buttons so I can accommodate larger cup sizes when needed. Thanks all for your advice!
