My preferred base is super basic:

2 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup of sugar
Pinch of salt
4 egg yolks

Plus 3 cans of Mountain Dew Pitch Black

Out of all the silly flavors I have done, this one was the most poorly executed. I was trying to reduce the soda down to the syrup, the heat was too high, and the sugar got burned. It was basically inedible. Probably the biggest waste of ingredients since maybe my second overall attempt. I did not make another attempt at it, I was simply ready to move on, heh.

I learned a lot but oof.

I’ve made a pretty damn good moxie sorbet before but I damn near fainted watching you make mtn dew into icecream. I think used like 20 cans of moxie and distilled it down to 4 cans worth (5:1). And that was for 2 quarts ish. Used angostura bitters to amp up the herbal notes and prevent freezing. And I also added sorbet stabilizer. Was practically too soft even when left to freeze “solid”. Purty damn good! Make sure its like a soft boil or an aggressive simmer. I think it was fine when I boiled it because the pot was full and refilled as it reduced. It’s probably not easy to capture that flavor in icecream. Maybe sherbet at most. Idk hope that gives some insight.
