How often do you clean your grates and the tray underneath?
New grill owner here. I’ve done 3 cooks so far and cleaned the grill after each one. Probably some overkill, but I’m trying to keep it as nice as I can. How often are you cleaning? Turkey breast for attention.

Whenever it needs it. I vacuum out the inside when I start seeing any ash floating around. I’ve never covered the drip tray in either grills I’ve owned. I just crank the heat once in a while and burn everything off. I wipe the grates off after every cook. Some cooks I just use a cooling rack on top of a cookie sheet so there’s no clean up at all.

I just cleaned mine out fully for my last cook. I use the smoker about 3-4 times a week. I have owned it for about 2 years, and I’m gonna say, this was my 4th time cleaning it fully (vacuum) However, I like to keep my grates clean. So before every cook and after.
Also, apparently the grill brushes with the metal wires are like real bad, so get a bamboo scraper.

The more often you do it, the easier it is. I like to vacuum before every cook because I just store my mini shop vac under the grill. Also wrap the grease tray with heavy duty foil and change every 3-4 cooks. Super easy

I scrape the drip tray and use a leaf blower to clean the ash and ash pot. I literally never clean the grates.

For me prob every 20-30 hours of use for the tray. I also bought a cheap $30 1.5HP shop vac from Wally World for the ash/junk. Every cook I clean off the thermometer

i try and clean the grates either before or after every cook, got one of those bbq daddy brushes which does a decent enough job of keeping the grates pretty clean, i just bought an ash vacuum as well to help keep the burn pot and underside clear

I use heavy duty foil to cover the drip tray. I swap it after 2-4 cooks (depending on how dirty) and When I take it off I ball up the Dirty side inside, and use the balled/crumpled up foil to rub the grates and clean them off. Then wipe I wipe clean. The foil cleans the grates well. When i have the tray out to change the foil I take the opportunity to shop vac out the burn box and interior.

Often. The “leftover grease and grime is flavor” crew will disagree, but a clean grill produces a better result.
