Haven’t seen these here and pretty sure the recipe is everywhere. However, I rarely see people I know make them IRL.

Ingredients
6 cups rice krispy cereal. Generic would be fine – we use a 4 cup Pyrex liquid measuring cup for this.

1 stick butter (salted preferably)

1 bag of marshmallows (10.5 oz bag)

11 by 17 glass baking dish
Big pot – we use a 5 qt stainless Dutch oven pot – Revere ware but something similar

Instructions

Melt stick of butter in 5 qt pot

Melt marshmallows in pot with melted butter

Stir in Rice Krispies and thoroughly combine

Spray glass baking dish with cooking spray and place contents into dish and level it out

Eat after letting them set for a bit

This is the base recipe. Add in mini M&Ms or chocolate chips to change them up

Brown the butter and add some flaky salt to make them even better!

Homemade Krispy treats are always 80x better than the store bought ones. I like to make fancy cinnamon roll ones by browning the butter, then I press them into a flat sheet, spread some cinnamon roll filling on top (melted butter mixed with brown sugar and cinnamon), and roll it up like a cinnamon roll. Slice them up and they’re great to bring to parties because they look like they took a lot more effort than they did.

I just made these this weekend to snack on while we decorated the Christmas tree. I only use 3 tbs of butter though as that was what is on the rice krispies site. I use store brand cereal and marshmallows which really does make it a budget friendly dessert.

These are one of my favorites that remind me of my childhood! When my kids were little I’d even add peanut butter with the butter: delicious!
