Lovely! Gonna drink it?

Please tell me that is stored somewhere in temperature control (and ideally humidity), and not under your bed or in your closet.

Lovely.

Honestly, drink it soon. My parents saved a bottle of chat margaux for about 15 years and waiting for the right time (also a gift from my deceased grandfather). When we finally cracked it open it was about 20 years too far gone. Your grandparents would want you to drink it, don’t save it for a special occasion – this wine will make the occasion special

This is a 1977 grange. Drinking now, hopefully not past already.
u/MedicoreAd1520, you really should go ahead and drink it. Some professional wine critics think it’s past its prime while others say it’s in its final year or two.
I would make another post asking how to handle a wine of this age as it’s going to be fragile.
If you have plans to consume it, you should do so this holiday season. Any longer and it’ll lose you magic.
Your grandparents would want you to drink and enjoy it in their memory. Honor their wishes. And you can always save the bottle as well.

Recent CellarTracker notes show this as being in fine shape today if storage was decent. That being said, three of the last 5 notes showed problems with corks. Best of luck with yours when you decide to open it.
Did they leave any other wines?

Drink the bottle. I’d love a sip. Then keep the bottle and the cork.

Christmas is coming up. Open that up with your family and cheers your grandparents. 77 is likely on the past side, but if you appreciate older wine it could be decent enough to enjoy.
