Ten Australia producers have landed on the International Wine & Spirits Competition’s inaugural Top 50 Producers lists after demonstrating consistency over the past three competition years. This includes seven producers making the top 50 for wine and three for spirits.
Family owned Margaret River winery House of Cards was the only Australian producer to crack the top 10, coming in at eighth behind producers from seven different countries.
Out of the best Australian wine producers however there was a clear regional trend, with all seven heralding from Margaret River, reinforcing the ongoing strong performance of the Western Australian region after its dominating performance in the 2025 trophy awards.
Trailing House of Cards, Fraser Gallop Estate was the only other Australian producer to crack the top 30 on either list, coming in at 11th in wine globally.
Meanwhile the 31st best spirits producer globally and the top performing Australian producer was neither a spirits producer nor independent bottler but a whisky retail subscription service, The Whisky Club.
“This incredible recognition is thanks to one thing: the whiskies created for our members,” says General Manager Seamus Carroll. “We are not independent bottlers, instead we work directly with the whiskymakers to create whiskies we know our members love. As distillers and master blenders regularly tell us, it’s their chance to flex with freedom for never-to-be-repeated expressions that showcase their distilleries in their finest.”
Following this, Four Pillars, the only Australian distillery to receive a trophy in this year’s competition, came in at 38th and The Gospel Distillery in 48th.
In addition to the new Top 50 Producers lists, IWSC has also crowned its entire producer trophies for 2025.
Once again flying the flag for Australia in RTD is Curatif, claiming the RTD Producer Trophy for the fourth consecutive year.
Similarly, Australia’s Edenvale has clinched the Low & No Wine Producer Trophy for a second year, with judge Alex Hunt MW praising the brand for “directly [tackling] the carbon footprint of de-alcoholisation, something no other entrant has addressed head-on”.
