Artusi conquers New York. The Consulate General in New York organized an event in the heart of Manhattan to promote Italian cuisine in the world in partnership with the Casa Artusi Foundation, Columbus Citizen Foundation and House of Made in Italy, an event dedicated to the figure of Artusi and his gastronomic, culinary and editorial interpretations. The Columbus Citizen Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that has been celebrating the heritage and achievements of Italian Americans for nearly a century, hosted a discussion in its halls – held by House of Artusi gastronome Mattia Fiandaca – on the history of Italian emigration to the United States and the deep connection with Pellegrino Artusi’s publishing success in New York, retracing the various stages of the publications of the archaic manual for the North American market. A source of great pride for the Forlimpopolese foundation, as emphasized by President Andrea Segrè, who sent his greetings to the Consul General and the evening’s guests. “This year in particular, our presence in this and other of the many initiatives of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is linked to the promotion of the values of Italian cuisine of which Pellegrino Artusi is the acknowledged father.

Next December 10, we will know if the candidacy of Italian Cuisine as Unesco intangible heritage will have a positive outcome. A path that has seen Fondazione Casa Artusi playing a leading role together with the other two proposing communities with the writing of the candidacy dossier by Massimo Montanari, whom we have confirmed as head of our Scientific Committee.” “The 10th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World celebrates the roots of our gastronomic identity, deeply influenced by the Italian migrations that have brought traditions and knowledge across all borders. In this journey, Pellegrino Artusi’s vision remains fundamental in enhancing Italian domestic cuisine, a living heritage that continues to unite communities around the world,” said Consul General in New York, Fabrizio Di Michele. The evening also featured Casa Artusi chef Matteo Milandri for a show cooking on an Artusi recipe related to the theme of roots cooking.
