Placed on curb during neighborhood bulk trash pickup. I assumed it was broken and I was gonna scrap for metal. But it looks new so I took home and plugged in and IT WORKS. Looks like it it's only been used once or twice. QUESTION: Why do you think it was abandoned?

Serendipity!
Could be someone who was not willing to learn how to prepare BBQ. These grills make the cooks easy, but there’s still a good amount of prep involved, as you know. My guess is that it’s related to time and practice.
Dude walks out with a seasoned pork butt – WTF, where’s my grill?
Neither of the reasons I can think for it to be abandoned are good for the previous owner. But lucky you!
Also, love your yard skull.
Moving and don’t want to transport.
Maybe divorce and she is getting rid of his stuff.
My neighbors never throw out good stuff like this.
Hornets inside? Of course turning up the heat will fix that.😁
I just got that same model for free. Guy I know just lost interest and was going to put it out by the curb. I’ve used it multiple times, it works fine.

Really, Ricky, you just happened to find an abandoned bbq on the side of the road…
