Oval not round!

Can’t remember if I have had my second Performer closer to 15 or 20 years. Came assembled from the hardware store to me as a gift. Lid never fit perfectly but it has been fine. The new rotisserie fits horribly but after measuring I see it is because my kettle is an oval not a circle. Oh well, I hope whoever assembled it originally has learned better. This is my attempt at reshaping my kettle to make the rotisserie ring fit correctly! Stretching it while hot with all thread. You guys experienced this? Happy Thanksgiving
