VESTAL, N.Y. (WBNG) — Gallagher Olive Oil Company is partnering with the Junior League of Binghamton to help fight food insecurity in the community.
This Saturday, the olive oil shop is donating 10% of proceeds to the Junior League’s Mobile Eatery Program, which will deliver food to people living in areas with limited access to food pantries across Broome and Tioga counties.
“Even though we have community meals and we have food pantries, there is accessibility challenges to those trying to access those foods so what this truck will do is it will actually bring prepared food directly to food desert areas so we hope that we can fill a need in that area,” said Alisha Sweitzer, President of the Junior League of Binghamton.
The Junior League has so far raised $70,000 of its $175,000 funding goal for this project.
“Please come and see us come and taste our oils and vinegars we’ll have food samples Villaggio Italian Market in Owego is also going to be joining us they’ll provide a charcuterie board to kind of showcase some of their products it will hopefully be a lot of fun so we hope to see you,” said Wendy Gallagher, owner of Gallagher’s Olive Oil Company.
Shoppers can visit Gallagher’s Olive Oil Company this Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 1708 Vestal Parkway East, Vestal.
