Baby Sofia has a new title this holiday season: Christmas cover girl!
When you pick up the latest issue of The Pioneer Woman magazine, the first thing you’ll see is Ree Drummond in a rich green velvet shirt, smiling like the proud grandma she is, with Sofia tucked right on her hip. The littlest member of the Drummond family is wearing a bright cranberry dress with bows down the front, her bare toes are sticking out, and there’s even a tiny bow clipped in her hair.
For the Drummond crew, this is a full-circle moment. Last Christmas, Sofia was a sleepy newborn, all swaddled up after being born just a few days before the holiday. Now her first birthday is almost here and she suddenly looks like a little girl who knows exactly where the camera is. So the fact that her big milestone year is ending with a Christmas cover alongside her ReeRee feels like the ultimate gift!

Alex shared the new issue on Instagram, posting a shot of the magazine resting neatly on their coffee table at home. “The perfect addition to our coffee table for Christmastime,” she wrote, with a couple of heart-eyed emojis. You can almost picture Sofia crawling over, grabbing the magazine, and realizing that the baby in the party dress on the cover looks very familiar. 😂

Ree has admitted that her camera roll is almost entirely Sofia at this point, from all the special times they’re together plus all of the updates Alex shares from afar. She says every new photo stops her in her tracks—and now there’s a glossy keepsake to add to the stash! A magazine cover turns this festive moment from Sofia’s first year into something the whole family can set out on the coffee table, tuck into a stocking, or save in a keepsake box for later. Years from now, they’ll be able to say, “Remember your very first Christmas issue?”
