HIGHLANDS, NC — Restaurant Klapdohr, a new fine dining concept from Chef Johannes Klapdohr, is targeting a mid-December opening at 490 Carolina Way, Highlands, NC 28741, he told Business Debut. The intimate restaurant will center on a display-style chef’s table that evolve throughout the evening. Klapdohr is also behind Library Kitchen and Bar in Sapphire, NC.
What to Expect
Restaurant Klapdohr will offer dinner-only service in an intimate setting of about 40 seats. The experience is designed to feel like a finely curated family holiday table, in which there is a central display of curated, a la carte dishes. Guests will be able to choose what they want, in the portions they prefer, and return to the display throughout the evening.
Menu and Vision
Expect fine dining with what Klapdohr termed as an Epicurean “gallery of dishes showcasing local farm products alongside the finest global ingredients,” according to a release. Plans include themed evenings such as seafood-focused nights and prime rib nights, along with carving stations and miniature desserts.
“It is a guest-centered concept, and we really want to give the guest whatever they want, when they want, and how much they want,” he told Business Debut.
An acclaimed restaurateur of German descent, Klapdohr is the third generation of his family to distinguish themselves in hospitality. His father and grandfather were hoteliers in Germany, where Johannes learned the art of hospitality before building a fine dining career in the United States, starting in Atlanta in 1996.
