I recently purchased Serious Eats’s #1 rated whisk from Misen, not only on their recommendation but due to Misen’s lifetime warranty.

Yet after only a few uses – perhaps fewer than a dozen – the whisk split in half. The day before Thanksgiving, no less.

It looks as if the top half is connected to the handle with a single screw, with only the flexible plastic of the handle wrapped around the head of the screw to keep it in place. Add even a modest amount of torque and it seems inevitable the two halves would twist apart.

I’m no engineer, but I’m surprised the whisk didn’t break sooner, considering this design. Does anyone else own this tool? It was purchased through Amazon so I’m concerned they sent me a phony.

Thanks everyone!

Where did you buy it from? My guess is knockoff

Shouldn’t screw somehow link plastic handle with whisk wires?

fwiw, my Misen fish spatula died in a similar way! I think their non-knife products are just not as good.

I bought one directly from them and it do the same thing first use. It’s not well designed.

A 3 cent metal washer the width of the handle would have solved that issue for, like, forever.

Take the screw out and add a washer and reconnect. Thanksgiving saved!!!!

I bought one that came broken from Amazon. Said the seller was the Misen store. I was able to return it and get a new one, but I am fearful of this one breaking too. It’s a shame because i also bought it based off their recommendation, through the link they provided.

    Hopefully just a bad batch?

I know they’ve made good products in the past and I’m sure some of them are still good, but their ads on Facebook scream “overpriced garbage” so I steer clear. Someone gifted me one of their pans and I ran a few side by sides against a grocery store stainless pan and they were identical in all but price.
