I am a baker for a living. 10+ years in bread. Yesterday, after starting to make rolls I texted my dad and told him I was bringing some. He responded with "I have some already."

That…. really killed me for some reason. So I literally made these rolls through tears. I think they turned out pretty okay. I guess it's my dad's loss.

Bring em anyways ! I’m sure your homemade rolls would be more popular than preservative filled bread from the big box stores.

Save them for leftovers! I love using rolls for leftover mini turkey sandwiches

Oh man that hurts so much. I would feel very overlooked, especially if my dad obviously knew what I did for a living.

I hope you can chalk it up to him being a man (they don’t think! 😉) . They look so good I would buy them. Wait, that’s what people already do lol OKAY I would pay EXTRA!

  4. These look amazing. It doesn’t seem like your dad was trying to slight you. I hope everyone loves the babka you made!

These look beautiful and I’d bring them anyways. Ask him to save the rolls for his lunch.

Give the others around the table the choice – your delicious fresh rolls or the bought dry ones 😋

I’m sorry. That must be such a huge disappointment. I hope it was because he didn’t want you to have to put extra energy and time into it. Don’t take it personally, I’m sure he didn’t mean that store bought was better in any way.

These buns look absolutely perfect though. Bread like this inspire me to learn more!

Hopefully he was just trying to tell you you don’t need to go through the trouble, I’m sorry if that’s not the case 🙁

The rolls look fantastic, bring em over here, I’ll appreciate them!

These look amazing and i would eat so many! Way better than what you can buy

  10. I hope you were being figurative. Fairly sure dude just thought to mention it as a “No need to do extra effort” and would still be happy if you brought them. Unless you know more than us and he’s actually a dick.

The proper thing for your dad to do would be throw his in the freezer and eat yours. Those look amazing 🤤

But if he’s unappreciative, save them for yourself. Or me.

  12. I have a relative that is so self absorbed that she doesn’t know that her actions and words cause others pain. It’s hard to process, but he probably doesn’t understand what he said

They look really good! What’s your recipe? I made some earlier using the tangzhong method.

One year, I signed up to make rolls. My uncle-in-law decided to bring brown n serves. I told my husband I was still bringing my homemade ones. Guess which ones were all gone.

Aw I’m so sorry, that would really hurt my feelings too😢 those rolls are truly beautiful and I hope you enjoy every single one. Freeze them!

I’d be like wtf dad? Fuck that you know I’m a baker right. You can eat the rolls you have any other time get outta here lmao.

Now the crux of the issue is that he didn’t keep that thought in mind but whatever you gotta hold your ground.

So soft and fluffy looking. If his are store bought then I’m 100% everyone would have preferred these homemade ones

    I feel your pain.

I made the entire dinner from scratch over the last 3 days, and my mother in law told me, “I’m taking home mine to feed to the dogs”

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the recipe. Ive used King bread flour and now Kirkland org AP.with 11.5 % protein, similar results.

Recipe? These look so much better than what I managed

  21. nothing bears home made, store bought have no flavor, I made shokupan style dinner rolls they got so puffy and buttery that they all were gone in a hour. size of a burger burn too all fluff

I literally tried to make rolls like this today and they looked just like the picture when I took them out at 14 minutes to then later find that they weren’t baked at the bottom. What temp and time did you go for?

  23. GiantMudcrab

These are the most perfect rolls I’ve ever seen, I’m so impressed! His loss, I’m sorry that happened.
