You can always have hope! I’ve straight up planted branches that have broken off right into the garden, and sometimes they grow into their own plant, and sometimes they don’t. Best of luck!

When I have done this I get really stressed, disappointed, and right up to the very edge of throwing it out because it droops down, gets wilted and looks dead. I let it go a few more days, and the next thing you know there are roots and leaves are perking back up! I get it in some moist soil start easing it back into direct sunlight, and boom! New tomato plant! I say all this so that you know it will go through all those stages, but it may snap out of it and come back to life at the end!

I’ve had a 50/50 success when reporting directly into soil. I see little toms in your pics. I would remove the fruit to increase your odds.

To give it a fighting chance i would use a rooting hormone. I have more success than failure using this stuff. Sometimes i just dip the cutting in the hormone gel and place it a few inches into some moist soil, keeping the soil moist for a couple weeks

I would remove the ripe tomatoes so the plant puts its energy on growing roots
