Is this a canner? It says canner. My mom has a fagor that is for canning similar to this.

That is not a canner. You can go on market place and get an actual pressure canner for less than that.

The little picture in the upper left courner looks like a canner. The pressure gauge is the difference. The larger picture looks like a preasure cooker, notice the lack.of a gauge.
It says cooker and canner. Two different pots are shown. May be a two for one price thing?

you have to be careful with third party stores on amazon. they’ll put in a bunch of keywords and not all that will be true

I have a Fagor Duo pressure cooker & canner that’s pretty much the same thing as this. Zavor is pretty much the same as the now defunct company fagor too. It came with canning supplies (rack, ladle, funnel, jar lifter, etc). It was sold as a dual purpose cooker/canner. It has high & low pressure settings but not weights. There’s no way to be sure what pressure is achieved or if it holds steady.
It does NOT have is a reliable pressure gauge. It’s probably not safe for pressure canning. It seems irresponsible for the company to sell it as a canner.

We bought this item when we started canning because Presto canners were back ordered and this seemed to be a good, highly rated alternative. It only has two pressure settings, 15 and 8, and uses a simple pop up button to indicate when you are there. And it came with a nice set of canning tools which we now use with our Presto 23 quart that we purchased in 2024. We put up a lot of tomato sauce, and some veggies, with the Zavor, following their detailed USDA and NCHFP cautions and recommendations.
Would I buy another Zavor? No, I’m happier with the larger capacity Presto. It was a good introduction to canning, though.

One standard a canner should meet: is there a way of knowing with some precision whether you’re at 5, 10, 15 PSI, and whether you’re keeping your canner consistently at that pressure? Pressure canners have gauges – it doesn’t look like this does.

Not worth it. If you want to water bath can you don’t really need much and don’t need the pressure canner. If your stove is flat glass you need a flat stainless pot with a lid – you can get a big one at Walmart for like $25. If you have a gas stove or one with burners you can get the canning pot from tractor supply. Either way I prefer the Walmart big stainless pot, it just heats better and quicker.

The problem with this device is that you don’t know the actual pressure.
