Opened this tonight after thanksgiving festivities as it was a bottle totally forgotten about in my parents wine fridge. No fruit, no tannins, notes of asphalt and an unpleasant damp basement vibe to it. Was probably a great wine 10 years ago. oh well.

    Sad. Happy Thanksgiving anyway;)

1998 was a stellar vintage for the right bank, super concentrated and powerful wines. Corbin is a great producer as well. This should have been singing. This sounds like a bad bottle, possibly a combination of TCA and oxidation.

That’s the terrifying part of vintage wine.

    Did you have a backup?

sometimes the old dusty bottles you find are like hidden treasures but other times they’re just.. dust 😭 my dad had a similar experience with an old bordeaux last month.
