I smoked a turkey for the first time this Thanksgiving. I've now been told I have to smoke a turkey not just every Thanksgiving from now on, but regularly through the rest of the year. I guess there are worse mistakes one can make.

Haha yeah it’s a fate that falls on us. It looks delicious!

Same, I did my first turkey on the grill 3 years ago and that’s been the standard ever since. One comment I got was “I gotta tell you the truth, I don’t like turkey. I usually have some just to be a nice guest, but this is the best turkey I’ve ever had”
I did mine Spatchcock which also cuts down the cooking time by a lot.

Smoking it is the way to do it. Way to go OP!

  4. Question: did you stuff it? Or should you, because I think I want to give it a go for Christmas.

If you’re looking. It’s not cooking

  9. Smoking delicious food is one of very few categories where the typical male breaks the “Guy try hard rule”.

Example: Babe I did the dishes, aren’t you glad! (Female sees massively overcrowded dishes stacked into the dishwasher to the point almost none of them are clean and a few might be melted. Resulting in her never asking him to do the dishes again)

New job try hard rule equivalent: “Be careful setting quality or speed precedent, you may be asked to continue them indefinitely”
