New Restaurant Depot in South Austin

I rode by the old Capital Area Food Bank on far South Congress Friday and noticed it was now a Restaurant Depot. Hell yes! Slammed on the brakes and decided it was time for a gyro (or three).

No problem asking for a day pass to shop – just sign in on the sheet and go to town. Bring a jacket if you tend to get cold easily because half the store is a refrigerator, literally. They have coats you can borrow I believe (at least they do/did up north).

If you're a foodie of any sort you owe it to yourself to check it out. Great deals on kitchen utensils, cheeses and other foods in bulk, and stuff you can only get through food service distributors that are far better than the normal retail versions. But meat and most veggies are market price and nothing at much of a discount in that department.

Now If only we could get an Asian grocer South of Oltorf…. Or even south of Koenig Ln/
