Bought my silvia as first machine and it never left me. I bought a Decent de1pro and the silvia was going into storage… but now the de1pro is sold(kind of looking at the Lucca or the Decent Bengle) i upgraded to gagiuino while waiting for Decent to finally release the Bengle to see the actual machine but now i suddenly wondering why I ever bought a other machine. I dont drink milk drinks so waiting for steam I never had to do. And absolutely love the versatility now from the silvia. Yes the de1pro had some pro's but not worth the extra money pro's

I had my Silvia 25 years, when I got an ECM a decade ago I first got my Ceado grinder (83mm) and was amazed at the quality improvement, it revived the Silvia to such a level that when the ECM broke I switched back to my old Silvia until it died early after some stupidity from my side.

Without a pid you do need to know the timing of your workflow, mine was flush till it turns on the heater, wait till it is done heating, grind coffee and tamp (about 12-15 seconds), flush until no longer aggressively boiling, make the cup. Not as good as my Micra, but it makes the extra spend seem very very exorbitant 😅

I spot Momo’s coffee. How do you like it? I bought a few bags when I was in Korea this past summer and had them frozen. Going to try them when my new machine (Rocket R91) comes in.

  4. I suggest not leaving your coffee on top of the machine.

That heat won’t do any good to it.

They know the secret about preheating your beans on top of the machine

The Silvia has its reputation for a reason.
It’s an incredible espresso machine. Super solid, simple construction, great taste. Fun to use with the rocker switches. With the newer ones, the temperature surfing is as simple as waiting for the heating light to turn off after flushing (I use the flush to heat my cup) and waiting for 2 to 3 seconds.
I am thinking about keeping mine and modding it, just to have a little project over the holidays.

I’d say it’s also the beans and you’ve nailed that too.

I, too, use a telescope as my grinder

That’s a seriously clean setup — love the “grinder first, machine second.

Every espresso journey is just slowly realizing the grinder was the main character all along.
