tried the ortiz (top box in pic 3) yellowfin tuna belly in olive oil (sorry if jeans not YF i’m a bit blazed lol and can’t remember what i bought but it was £15 well spent lol)

my first ever ortiz tin! didn’t fucking disappoint at all of my god delicious belly. delicate. SO FLAVOURFUL. flakes came away so easily but were firm. didn’t melt in the mouth but you didn’t have to chew much at all.

i ate them on buttered toasted sourdough with cherry plum tomatoes w my bf and they looooved it too 🙂

definitely up there with the best tuna i’ve had!

also the tin is gorgeous !

last pic also shows the other ortiz tin i got – if anyone’s had it, please let me know if it’s good!

ALSO!!!! this made me REALLY wanna try a tin that’s in butter omggggg

The red one looks more like what I’ve had and it’s really good. Ortiz just generally has their act together, they don’t have a huge product line but their regular tuna and their sardines are solid too.

I’ve had the Island Creek tin in butter and they’re both about the same level of enjoyable but definitely different flavor from the butter and depending on how you eat it I can see either being a personal preference. Roughly the same price around here.

Definitely one of the best ventresca!! Though the one in butter is even better! 😋

Ventresca is sooo good. I have 6 tins ready to go for rainy days. The only thing out of the sea that I’ve liked more was when I had otoro sushi at a Japanese restaurant. It blew my mind.
