Aussie shoppers stocking up on a key food item ahead of Christmas have been left disappointed.

Aldi Orchard & Vine Mango Pieces has completely sold out at some Aldi stores, with customers sharing photos of the empty space where the frozen mango usually sits.

“Got a pack of these frozen mango pieces last week – came back for more, but they’re all gone,” they said on Reddit’s ‘Aldi Australia’ thread.

In the photo we see plenty of stock of frozen strawberries and frozen bananas, however there isn’t even one packet of frozen mango left.

The shortage will make for some sad-looking pavlovas this festive season.

Aldi shoppers also report using the frozen mango product for their smoothies.

“I went to grab some more for smoothies today and they were out. I’ll have to grab more through the week. Odd cause I’ve never seen them out of them before. Surely they can’t be THAT popular?!” one said.

“They’re actually surprisingly popular,” another responded.

“My store (pretty high sales store) runs out at least three times a week. Obviously it depends on the area, and the sales the store does but so does all stock. I’ve worked in other stores where these are always at least 50 per cent full too.”

Another said: “Look, I love Aldi – the bulk of my weekly shop is there – BUT over the years, I’ve come to realise that you can never be quite sure that a product will be available. If not – IGA or others get a shot.”

Others have found temporary work arounds, buying fresh mangoes, cutting them up and freezing them themselves.

“We got 16 mangoes from Harries Farm about 3 weeks ago. I paid $33,” they said.

“Still going for smoothies or just on its own. I froze almost half. I am more addicted than my partner, never get sick of mangoes although I don’t have them every single day.

“Ready to go for second box next week if they are on nice price.”

“A tray of mangoes cost me $20 today at the fruito. There’s more flesh in that one tray than four bags,” added another.

As this is one of Aldi’s core products it is expected that stocks will be replenished as soon as possible, especially with the Christmas period increasing demand.

Aldi Australia has been contacted for comment.
