Islamabad (TDI): Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani attended the Italian Cuisine Week Gala Dinner in Islamabad, hosted by the Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, along with Domenico Pelloni, the co-organizer of the event.

The event brought together diplomats, distinguished guests, and members of the international community to celebrate Italy’s rich culinary heritage while promoting cultural diplomacy.

Chairman Gilani expressed his gratitude to the Italian hosts for their warm hospitality and for organizing an evening that not only showcased Italian cuisine but also served as a platform to honour friendship, culture, and the longstanding bonds between Pakistan and Italy.

He expressed deep appreciation to the Italian Ambassador and  Pelloni for their gracious hospitality and for organizing a memorable evening that showcased the elegance and richness of Italian cuisine. He noted that the celebration went beyond culinary delight serving as a meaningful platform to honour friendship, culture, and the longstanding bonds between Pakistan and Italy.

Chairman Gilani highlighted the warm and cooperative relationship shared by the two countries, acknowledging Italy’s significant role as an important economic partner in Europe. He emphasized the steady expansion of bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors including trade, investment, education, culture, and parliamentary diplomacy.

The Chairman also paid tribute to the Pakistani diaspora in Italy, recognizing their positive contributions and their important role in strengthening people-to-people connections between the two nations.

He noted that diplomacy thrives not only through official engagements but also through cultural exchanges particularly food, art, music, and shared experiences. In this context, he appreciated Italian Cuisine Week as a meaningful avenue of “culinary diplomacy,” which fosters understanding and brings people together.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to further institutional cooperation, Chairman Gilani underscored the Senate’s readiness to enhance parliamentary engagement with the Italian Senate and other state institutions.
