What do you think, can it fully replace a dedicated circulator?

**This is a generic reminder message under every image post**

Thank you for your picture post to r/sousvide. We want to remind everyone of Rule #5. Posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.

If you’ve posted a picture of something you’ve prepared, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn’t really fostering any discussion which is what we’re all aiming for.

Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.

    Thank you!!

  2. If it works, it would be cool (always happy to reduce the # of devices in the kitchen).

Though I fear the temp on top will be lower than on the bottom. because heat is only coming from the bottom and being lost on the top, even more so if there is no lid or other isolation. Also if the bags float to the bottom they might see a difference in 1-2C.

There is some natural movement of the water due to warmer water rising up and cooler water falling down, though.

My verdict: good enough for certain applications, but might have less reliable results. Yet, happy to see someone test it – if it works, it would be great.

Interesting concept, but I have a gas stove, and this is not enough to convince me to go back to an electric.
