Mediterranean fast-casual chain CAVA is scheduled to open its first Bucks County location next month.

Bailie Bridges, a company spokesperson, confirmed to NewtownPANow.com that CAVA will open its location in the Village at Newtown on Dec. 19.

The new restaurant will occupy the storefront previously held by MOD Pizza, which was evicted late last year amid financial issues.

CAVA has been working toward the Newtown Township opening for several months, and the paper covering the windows at the location recently came down.

CAVA, which was founded in 2006 by first-generation Greek Americans in Maryland, has grown rapidly by specializing in quick-service, healthy Mediterranean meals and dips.

The company currently operates more than 360 locations, including several in the Philadelphia area.

The regional director for CAVA, Ron Shuler, said he was excited about the new location.

“Our mission is to bring heart, health, and humanity to food, and everything we do at CAVA is grounded in that spirit of generosity, to our guests, our team members, and our community,” Shuler said. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be in Newtown and continue to grow our presence in the area.”

Before the official opening, CAVA plans to host a community day where it will offer a free meal to residents and accept donations for the Family Service Association of Bucks County.

The Newtown Township location is expected to employ between 25 and 40 local residents, according to a company statement.

In 2018, CAVA acquired the remnants of the Zoës Kitchen chain, converting or closing all of those locations.

The company reported a 28.3 percent increase in revenue last year, opening just over 50 new restaurants.
