All over south Florida and the Caribbean. Lion fish ceviche or tacos are pretty popular. Never seen it served like that.

Never tried it myself but, as to the question of “how far from shore?” we briefly carried it several years ago at the seafood counter I worked at. Wisconsin, USA.

I’m surprised by the comments… we all saw it right?

21 to 25 a lb?? The fuck? For an invasive fish that’s over populated from my understanding? Why so much?

Speared a ton of these diving in Cozumel and made tacos with them. Tough to beat if you can deal with the spines!

I didn’t know they were edible. I catch these little guys all the time and just throw them back.

Had it in the Caymans. Pretty good. It’s an invasive species so it’s cool to see chefs finding ways to use it

Sorta reminded me of founder in a way, very clean not fishy at all.

A lb of lionfish fillets is a bunch of average size lionfish

Very good eating. I think the preparation is why it’s not as popular as it should be. A local restaurant on the Atlantic side made it a menu item at least 10 year ago

Is that a third fillet to cap the stuffing?

One my favorite fish. Lovely firm, meaty texture with some shellfish/lobstery undertones.

Had some lion fish crudo in Belize and it was amazing!
