Another Dallas pizzeria is getting a spotlight. Carmine’s Pizzeria, located in a North Texas strip mall, has been named as the best hole-in-the-wall pizza joint in Texas.
The latest accolade comes from Chowhound. The American culinary publication, founded in 1997, is an emerging online food community dedicated to our country’s food nerds.
Following its recent feature on Dallas’ Apothecary avant-garde cocktail lounge, which the company called the “hands down” best cocktail bar in Texas, Chowhound has released its new list of the best hole-in-the-wall pizzerias in each state.

After analyzing a wide array of social media reviews, local publications, and local awards, Chowhound determined that the best hole-in-the-wall pizzeria in Texas, is Carmine’s Pizzeria.
Founded over 40 years ago, Carmine’s is a family-owned pizzeria at Montfort Corners strip mall that specializes in New York-style pizza. The favorite here is the classic pepperoni though its three-cheese calzones are also very popular. Visitors can also choose from a menu of other Italian classics, ranging from pasta to baked specialties, hot and cold subs.

“Carmine’s Pizzeria claims that it has the best New York-style pizza, and locals on Reddit seem to agree. Nestled in a north Dallas strip mall, Carmine’s has been offering classic pizza and Italian food in a simple, no-frills setting for over 40 years. Reviewers love the thin crust, and that you can buy pizza by the slice or as a whole pie.”
Carmine’s Pizzeria is located at 5365 Spring Valley Road, Suite 138. The pizza joint also has a location in Downtown, Dallas at 2006 San Jacinto St #100, the latter under a separate ownership.
The pizzeria is open from 11 am – 9:30 pm from Monday through Saturday. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.
