Big thanks to u/philerrrrs for the tip on this one—I might otherwise never have known about it, or about Gunther's at all. I make some effort to enjoy food from around the city, but Ridgewood is clear across town from the Village and there's just stuff I'm gonna miss unless someone puts it in front of my face. Gunther's IG gave me the final nudge.

Definitely worth the trip: turkey, Gruyère, gravy, cranberry sauce, hash browns and herb butter butter on toasted ciabatta. It comes with cream of spinach soup "for dipping", but I found the sandwich didn't need it and I enjoyed it separately; your tastes may differ. The crunch of the hash browns worked very well here, so, unlike some Thanksgiving foods, this might be better eaten fresh than as leftovers. At $24, it was more than the $19-20 sandwiches I generally expect, but it includes the soup, of which you get a decent portion.

It's six blocks from Seneca Ave on the M, simple enough for me from W 4th but I appreciate that folks in many parts of Brooklyn and Queens wouldn't have nearly so easy a time getting there. Can't wait for the IBX!
