First time trying it and Id say it’s worth it. Just gotta be careful to not start a fire (I almost did 😭)

I hate that there’s now a cult around the stuff for reasons other than “delicious and crispy.”

  2. Apprehensive_Putz

It’s probably delicious, but I can’t believe people think it’s “healthy” when we have decades of research showing the effects of saturated animal fats

  3. Adventurous-Start874

How much did you pay for that?… I don’t think it’s pure tallow

  4. ScrotumFlavoredCandy

I don’t get the obsession with beff tallow, when duck fat is right there and just about the same price.

Once upon a time tallow was KING. You had no choice but to eat delicious fried foods and no one even imagined horribad Capitalists would foist hydrogenated seed oils on us to satisfy greedy shareholders.

I mean whether or not it’s beef tallow or vegetable oil, is anyone ordering something deep-fried from a restaurant and assuming it’s not terrible for you?

My first job was at a diner in 98? and all our equipment was from the mid 70’s. We had three fry layers which each used 1/3 of a block of tallow. It wasn’t until I went to a wayyyyyy more modern kitchen that I even knew there was other options.

I love beef tallow as much as the next girl, but I get places not running it if you want to be able to serve anything fried that is vegetarian friendly. Fries are always a safe bet, until there’s tallow involved sadly

Blanche me like one of your french fries.

With the volume of people who are choosing vegetarianism and veganism, beef tallow/dripping is a poor choice for a restaurant in a commercial capacity, but lord does it taste better.

I hate I can’t use it for my roast potatoes based on taste alone, because let’s be real, who is eating fries for the health benefits?

  11. proteindeficientveg

Please don’t use it for fries. It’s one of the few options that vegans have at many restaurants 🥲

  12. IamShopsy

Conversely, I now use liquid Advil for all deep frying.

  13. Stanchmode23

I’m just sad that as a vegetarian I can’t even enjoy the French fries now 😭

This, a grass fed ribeye, some raw milk, and our lord and savior Jesus Christ — all I need. God bless America.

  15. SushiGradeChicken

Imagine how much better it would taste if you cleaned your fryer first

  16. stupidsocialmedia1

I wanna use beef tallow to make soap from oils and lye

  17. AlolanFroslass

There’s a bakery near me that uses beef tallow and it makes those donuts so goddamn delicious.

  18. Marco_Heimdall

I mean, beef tallow is the reason that McDonalds fries weren’t vegetarian for a time. Flavor comes from unexpected places, and when you know of its luster, you can’t really bring yourself to escape it.

  19. bolognaskin

Does that fryer have a built in filter system?

I ruined one with tallow. It worked once then the pump got all gummed up and never turned on again. So yeah, don’t do that.

    Makes real good fries.

  20. blueturtle00

Don’t worry brother we’ve been frying with tallow for decades, it just tastes too good! The best thing to come out of this hype though is better quality tallow!

  21. heavyusername2

It lasts about 1.5 to 2 times as long as veg oil

  22. Man I’ve heard it tastes amazing, but I’m not sure if my red meat allergy/intolerance blocks me from it. Parents rave about it

  23. I want to see the money shot of what you fried!!

  24. Most-Worldliness-941

This may be a stupid question, but should I be asking restaurants what they use to fry things more often? I have a (what seems to be a non-life threatening) beef allergy & sometimes I get symptoms of my allergy after eating out but not consuming any explicit beef products. I normally ask about peanuts/peanut oil for other allergies, if it’s not explicitly stated, but didn’t think about this. Is beef tallow commonly used to fry or is this a newer thing?

Hey enjoy your clogged arteries and sat fats. Congrats!!

I feel like these photos in order are the kitchen equivalent of that melting gorilla meme:

    Come closer, I don’t have long /
I need to tell you, the Sysco rep /
    *glug*

  27. BerryChoice9042

Mate… First thing with beef tallow… Never put it like that in the fryer! Take a big pot, melt it down and than put it liquid in the fryer!

Safety first and, it is much more easier…

  28. Dramatic-Biscotti647

Yall don’t have many hindu customers huh?

During the first few months of the Ukranian Russian war, we had problems finding vegetable frying oil, so we just bought beef fat for the fryer, everyone loved it, now, we still use it and it costs way less than oil cause “no one wants it”.
