On vacation and walked past this cafe at our resort at night. Told my wife I had to try the espresso here since they have a La Marzocco do they may actually know what they’re doing. Ordered a shaken espresso thinking I was getting it from a La Marzocco, but something looked off the more I waited 😂

Coffee was…serviceable

Same level as a lamarzocco, so its not the machine but something else

  2. La San Marco is actually quite big. They are a big player in the gastronomy machine market.

Especially in and around Neapels Italy you see their Lever machines in every coffee shop. But as I said, not only Italy, they are big world wide.

They just don’t have this public consumer facing image, like other companies with a similar name xD

When someone can give you a fire shot from a bambino (read inexpensive machine) know that the opposite may also be true…

  4. Still a $5,000 machine, $1,000 grinder. At least they’re trying. Quality is probably dependent on the beans, the grind and the skill of the barista.

  5. Don’t take it the wrong way, but the cafés around here that have lamarzoccos are the ones that brew probably the worst coffee, they spend a lot of money to look fancy and then they hire students who cloudn’t give less sh|t about coffee.
The best one around is a “hidden gem”, they have a 10+ years old rancilio grinder (with regularly replaced burrs) and a rancilio machine that looks like it came from the movie waterworld, but somehow they make a good espresso and all their milk based drinks are based on this good espresso.

La Marzocco is one of many companies marking professional espresso machines. Difference is that they also sell single group maschines for enthusiasts.

I have not yet seen a correlation between the espressomaschine used and the quality espresso in cafes.

La Marzocco isn’t the end all be all, I don’t even like the machines to be honest. It’s funny when people act like that’s a sign of good coffee, it’s more of a sign of someone posing as if they know.
