The Italian Embassy in Bogotá celebrated the tenth edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World with a series of events, including a gala dinner for dignitaries, leading figures from local society and entrepreneurs from both countries. It is worth noting that an earlier event was also held for industry professionals: a sensory and educational journey through wines from different Italian regions.
“This is an evening of friendship between Italy and Colombia, a friendship that is expressed through food, excellence and the recognition of Italian entrepreneurs who are making such a significant contribution to the country,” said the Ambassador of Italy to Colombia, Giancarlo Maria Curcio.
The gala dinner was held at the exclusive Gun Club in Bogota, in the presence of a distinguished audience of dignitaries, entrepreneurs from both countries, representatives of Italian companies in Colombia, members of the Italian community and officials from both nations.
“Dear friends, let us savor Italian food and wines, which are becoming increasingly popular on the tables of our Colombian friends, and above all let us celebrate 160 years of great ties between our two countries. Long live Italy, long live Colombia, and long live the friendship between our two nations!” said the Ambassador.
During the celebration, awards were given for the first time to entrepreneurs and institutions whose work has contributed to strengthening business, cultural and friendship relations between the two countries.
The awards were presented by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Colombia, with the support of the Italian Embassy in Bogota, and recognized the work of entrepreneurs and institutions in three categories: Italy-Colombia Partnership, Environmental Sustainability and Young Entrepreneurs.
Part of the celebration of the 10th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World also included a preliminary event called “Italy in a Glass,” organized by the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) and the Italian Cultural Institute, with the support of the Italian Embassy in Bogota. The event allowed 50 industry professionals to embark on a sensory journey through emblematic wines from Abruzzo, Calabria, Piedmont, Puglia, Sicily, Tuscany and Trentino.
The celebration of the 10th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World will continue until the beginning of December, as Italy was chosen as the “Guest of Honor Country at the 19th edition of the Gastronomic Festival of Chía,” a municipality near Bogota. There, the many participants who have always attended this traditional event will be able to taste numerous “Made in Italy” products.
