In California Wine Country, generosity has deep roots. This season, limited-edition releases and nonprofit partnerships are giving every pour a purpose, from Napa to Monterey County.

Bottles from these wineries aren’t just ideal for a festive dinner or meaningful gift—they’re a cheerful way to give back.

Serving the Hungry

Nourish others with the philanthropic efforts of Domaine Carneros in Napa Valley. For several years, the winery has supported the Ceres Community Project, a North Bay nonprofit where teens prepare medically tailored meals for people facing serious illness. Every February, a portion of sales helps fund these locally cooked, nutrient-rich meals, and this Giving Tuesday the winery is expanding its reach far beyond Wine Country by donating 20 percent of all website sales to Feeding America. Signature bottles include their Estate Brut Cuvée and the luxurious Le Rêve Blanc de Blancs. // 1240 Duhig Rd. (Napa), domainecarneros.com

A Sparkling Tradition of Giving

Generosity sparkles at Iron Horse, where estate bubblies are brewed to do good across Northern California. The 2020 Ocean Reserve Blanc de Blancs channels a portion of its proceeds to Heal the Bay, and the winery’s Ashes to Action initiative continues a 15-year tradition of ocean care. The 2021 Gratitude donates $5 per bottle to Redwood Empire Food Bank, helping families from Sonoma to the Oregon border, while the Spirit of ’76 Jeroboam gives $50 per bottle to the Disabled Veterans of America, saluting service members and celebrating the winery’s 1976 founding. Together, these bottles show why Iron Horse has been a San Francisco Business Times Top 100 corporate philanthropy honoree two years running. // 9786 Ross Station Rd. Unity Is Strength

Collaboration shines through Overshine Collective’s Wine Country Unites 6-Pack, a project that brings together seven Northern California producers for a shared cause. For every $240 set sold, $60 goes to support Giffords, an organization dedicated to reducing gun violence. The collection features six expressive wines, including Maple Vineyard Zinfandel from Overshine, Idlewild Barbera, Comunità White Wine, Martha Stoumen Nero d’Avola Rosato, BloodRoot Sauvignon Blanc, and Reeve Pinot Noir. The pack highlights the creativity and compassion found throughout Wine Country while offering an easy way to support advocacy and education. // 2201 Westside Rd. (Healdsburg), overshinewines.com

Spreading Joy

To mark Giving Tuesday, St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery is donating 20 percent of sales from select wines, including the Napa Valley Estate Rosé, Dollarhide Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli, and Dollarhide Elevation, now through December 15th. The initiative supports four remarkable organizations: San Francisco-Marin Food Bank and Sacramento Food Bank, both working to combat food insecurity; Fed By Blue, which promotes sustainable ocean-based food systems; and Summer Search, a national nonprofit helping students from under-resourced communities reach their full potential. With festive events throughout the season, enjoying wine at St. Supéry is a beautiful way to give back. // 8440 St. Helena Hwy. (Rutherford), stsupery.com

Everyone Deserves a Second Chance

The Prisoner Wine Company continues its bold approach to social advocacy with its third edition of the Corrections series, a collectible wine dedicated to supporting formerly incarcerated artists. The producer donates $75,000 annually to the Center for Art and Advocacy, along with five percent from each bottle of Corrections and three percent from each bottle of The Prisoner Red Blend. The 2022 Corrections Stags Leap Red Wine features artwork by Jesse Krimes, whose piece “Purgatory” became the first work by a living, formerly incarcerated artist acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. // 1178 Galleron Rd. Purpose in Every Pour

Sonoma’s Bricoleur Vineyards has a deep commitment to impactful winemaking. After CEO Sarah Citron was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2023, the winery launched its Sip With Purpose initiative to support the V Foundation’s cancer research. Signature philanthropic releases include Isla Rose Brut Rosé—named after Sarah’s daughter—and a festive Blanc de Blancs featuring artwork from illustrator John Donohue, from which $10 is donated per bottle. With more than $100,000 raised last year, the winery is poised to make an even greater difference in 2025. // 7394 Starr Rd. (Windsor), bricoleurvineyards.com

A Santa Cruz Celebration of Life

Generosity has long been part of the identity of Bargetto Winery in Santa Cruz County, and its La Vita Program stands as one of the region’s most enduring examples of wine-driven philanthropy. La Vita, which means “the life” in Italian, is a red blend produced every year from which a portion of sales is donated annually to a local nonprofit. This year’s beneficiary of the 2021 La Vita Red Blend is Santa Cruz Veterans, and past recipients have included the Panetta Institute and Housing Matters. // 3535 N. Main St. (Soquel), bargetto.com
