    This is what I consider medium rare. Warm red center. Medium would be another minute on each side.

    Looks like a perfect medium rare steak to me. Its kinda wild that there are so many people considering this to be raw. The center of the meat is not deep enough red to be even close to raw.

    This is my first time visiting this sub and I think a lot of commenters… could use some practice, and a decent thermometer.

    The “cuisson” (how much the meat is cooked) is determined primarily by temperature since that’s what controls the chemical reactions that contribute to how much the steak is actually cooked. Cuisson can’t really be determined visually, but there are some visual cues… to me this steak looks medium, cooked a little bit less hot than it could have been since it’s missing a nice dark crust on the exterior and it’s a fairly uniform light(ish) pink throughout the middle. 

    Ultimately, the only question that matters is “did y’all enjoy that steak?” and hopefully you did! 🍻

    Nope. A stronger sear would have drove it to medium-rare.

    honestly probably depends how long the steak has been out. it seems like maybe a bit n steak in my experience will get redder the longer it sits out. if it was still hot it’s medium rare, if not probably medium. but i guess judging from the crust it probably wasn’t cooked that long on second thought

    Yes it is. Rare is barely hot inside dripping blood juice. This is medium rare.

    Its rare not medium rare, but def not raw/blue like some porple are saying.

    Sear could be better but it looks very good
