Americans LOVE cheese.  Back in 2023, it was reported that we consumed 42.3 pounds of cheese per person in our country.  And because I know a few of us are lactose intolerant, some of you had a little bit more than that average amount.

Before you load that hot dish up with Minnesotans’ favorite topping, shredded cheese, PAUSE!  A massive recall was just issued by the Food and Drug Administration for a long list of shredded cheeses due to metal fragments.  This latest recall involves 31 states including Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

It is time to check your refrigerator!  Below is what you need to know to stay safe.

Back in October, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a recall on shredded cheese produced by Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc. and were sold at several major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Aldi.  However, on December 2nd, the risk was updated by the FDA to a Class II. This new risk level is the second-highest and means that the chance of a serious health consequence is remote, but if you consume this product there is a possibility of temporary or reversible effects.
