A man has received widespread praise for standing his ground and refusing to cater to his sister’s “picky” teenagers at Christmas dinner. Previously, his sister would bring along special items just for her kids, but he has now drawn a line and banned her from preparing separate meals.

The man shared his frustrations on social media, explaining how his sister would bring a plastic container filled with pasta and chicken specifically for her daughters to eat. Taking to Reddit, he described how this often interferes with his efforts to prepare the main Christmas dinner, creating extra stress and disruption in the kitchen.

According to him, the repeated insistence on separate meals has made holiday preparations more complicated than they should be. The post read: “We have our Christmas with mum’s side the first weekend of December. I hosted, usually my sister and I switch off host duties.

“My sister has two daughters who are incredibly picky eaters at 18 and 15- years- old. My sister would come to family parties with a box of pasta and a bag of frozen chicken tenders that she will make for her daughters.”

The man says he decided to put his foot down this year and forbid his sister from entering the kitchen. He added:”This year I told my wife we will not be letting my sister in the kitchen this year and the girls will have the choice of eating what I prepared or not eating.

“My sister accused me of being a cynic and getting joy from watching the girls be uncomfortable. I told her they are old enough to eat like adults.

“I do a fillet roast, BBQ ribs, cheesy potatoes, stuffed artichoke, breaded cauliflower, ratatouille, and a salad. Certainly some of these must be foods that an 18 and 15- year -old should be able to eat.”

However, he went on to explain that the two teenagers ended up eating only bread throughout the entire meal, refusing to touch any of the dishes he had prepared.

They reportedly made comments about how ‘disgusting’ the other food looked. The man added that his sister told him he deserved the teasing and ridicule from her daughters, suggesting that he was at fault for their reaction.

Despite the sister’s comments, many Reddit users were quick to support the man on his hard stance. Taking to the comments, one person said: “They are 18 and 15, not little kids.

“They can be picky, you don’t have to accommodate that. It’s very annoying to have someone come into the kitchen and taking up space when you’re cooking a big meal.”

A second echoed this sentiment, writing: “This is not about allergies or veganism. It’s about near-adults acting like whiny toddlers and their mother catering to it for some reason.”
