Oceania Cruises will debut a French restaurant serving just 18 guests per night on its next ship, the Oceania Sonata, as well as a Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant.

The French restaurant is being crafted in partnership with the French culinary association Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and will be named La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France. It will be the institution’s first restaurant at sea.

Oceania executive culinary directors Alexis Quaretti and Eric Barale are developing menus for both restaurants and will invite chefs from France to create rotating menus for La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France. There will be a surcharge for wine pairings at La Table but the food is included in the cruise price, like all of Oceania’s specialty dining.

La Table will also host Oceania’s six-course tasting menu with champagne pairings — called the Dom Pérignon Experience.

The Peruvian-Japanese restaurant will be called Nikkei Kitchen and will have an open kitchen. Barale and Quaretti are partnering with chef Gustavo Sugay to develop the menu of fresh seafood. Sugay previously helped develop dishes for Oceania’s pan-Asian restaurant, Red Ginger.

The Oceania Sonata is the first ship in Oceania’s next ship class and will begin sailing in 2027. It will feature familiar dining venues in addition to the two new ones and will dedicate more space to the three most casual eateries: Terrace Café, Waves Grill and Aquamar Kitchen.
