Knock boxes are only useful for baristas, anyone else, just slap the puck loose in your hand, remove the puck screen, and into the trash it goes.
3 seconds. It probably takes longer to empty your knock box after you put your single coffee puck in it.

I don’t want to damage the bin, or my hand, so I have a “Knock Stick” which is just the hard rubber bar on the knock box. I just hit the portafilter and the stick together to eject the puck in to the trash

I knock it into one of those plastic takeout soup containers and then put it in the fridge. When it’s full, I’ll compost it or put it in the garden if any plants need it

I have a knock box so I can put all the pucks in there, to later scatter over my garden to prevent certain pest animals and bugs, and help my citrus fruit.
Dunno why having a knock box is regarded as silly?
