Wow, this is super reminiscent of a time I was camping and I had a pack of ribeyes just like this. A mongoose ran off with one of them, so I still had ribeye to eat for dinner. I wasn’t even that mad, seeing that overjoyed mongoose dragging off a full ribeye. I imagined him going back to his mongoose wife and children and having the feast of a lifetime.

that’s happened on my runnjng route before. it rotted for a while before someone did something about it. i usually pick up trash anyway when i run but i’m not touching someone else’s rotted meat

Probably either stolen and discarded when they realized they couldn’t do anything with it.
If its adjacent to the store parking lot I could see it being something fell out and they just didn’t realize.
