El Yucateco – Habanero & Cafe

I’m having a hard time with this one.

I can’t decide if I like it or not. I think I do, but I think overall, the conclusion is that it’s forgettable. It’s a light heat and decent flavor. Easy to eat (so went through it quickly).

Spice Level: 3.5

(0-10, where 0 = black pepper and 10 = stupid hot ghost peppers, etc)

Flavor: 5

0-10: Very subjective. Does this taste interesting/good/pleasant. Not relevant to heat or vinegar)
0 = Nasty
5 = Interesting
10 = Delicious

Vinegar: 1/10 (intensity of flavor of vinegar)

Viscosity: 3/5

(Watery/Liquid/Ketchup/Spreadable/Chunky)

Intensity of flavor: Light (2/5)

(does ‘reverberate’/cling to your pallet throughout the meal, or does it get easily ‘washed away’?) (None/Light/Med/heavy/intense)

Oily: 1/10

Personal recommendation: 6/10

I’d love to nail down this criteria down better, but for now, this is what I have:

0 = will never, ever consider buying it or using it again. Wouldn’t recommend it.

1 = would only use it if free and if nothing else was available, and even then I’d consider eating without hot sauce if this was my only option.

2 = would probably use it if it’s the only thing I had. Def better than nothing.

3 = not something I’d buy, but it’s ok.

4 = not buying it again. It’s not bad, but it’s just not exciting.

5 = not buying it again, but I don’t mind using it if someone has it

6 = it was ok. I’d buy it again, but mostly bc I’m not decided on whether or not I like it yet.

7 = pretty good. I’d certainly buy this again and be happy to find it at a table.

8 = I enjoy this, I’d buy this any time I see it if it’s not something I can find locally, but it’s not something I specifically search out.

9 = love it. Try to get it when I can.

10 = My all-time favorite. Must have at home all the time, and will specifically seek this sauce out.
