My new gear arrived today along with 4 Black Friday freebies: A probe pouch, small competition probe (for ribs and smaller meats), sunglasses and BBQ rub. It will run my water resistant Pit Viper so I saved some money there. Plan on taking it on its maiden voyage Monday as that is the first day of no forecasted rain.
I chose this based on reviews to replace my UltraQ (which replaced a DigiQ) that died in the middle of my last cook. I suppose it could be the UltraQ probes but the fact that one probe died, then 30 minutes later the other did the same sounds more like the unit. Regardless, the app for the UltaQ had deteriorated so much, to the point of being unusable, I am not interested in giving them anymore money. Looking at U Tube videos the FireBoard app looks to be far superior.

I also moved on from BBQ guru. Fireboard is awesome.
What else can we say but “sweeeeeet”!
I’ve had the OG FireBoard for 9 years, since backing it’s kickstarter. Best thermometer ever, great app, great service (had an issue with the drive cable and they sent a replacement asap).
I love my fireboard drive 2. I’ve a fireboard fan on my WSM and a pit viper on my WSK (neither really needs the fan but I’m disabled) and it handles either one fine. It has enough ports I can monitor several grills at once.
Also, I’ve picked up two different iGrill 2’s that I got basically free buying cheap old WSM’s off Craigslist, where they come along for the ride, and it’s nifty that the probes are interchangeable.
Non-native english speaker here, thought your 2yo had their own BBQ. i was like wtf
I went from an UltraQ to the fireboard as well and theres no comparison. Fireboard makes a great product.

You made a wise move.
Bought the first Fireboard back in 2019. Used it regularly with no issues besides one or two ambient probes going bad over the years (they’re only $15 and I close the grill lid on my wires, so that’ll happen).
Bought a Fireboard 2 + Drive combo last year even though my first gen is still kicking. The bigger display is a big quality-of-life improvement. Haven’t actually used the Drive functionality yet because my WSK is rock solid once the temps settle in. Both versions use the same app, so no difference there.
The biggest selling point for me was being able to fire up the app and see the temps from anywhere in the world. Since the temp data gets pushed to the cloud, I can fire up my grill/smoker, throw meat on and get things running, and then head out to run errands/grab a drink at the bar/etc. I’ll just fire up the app on my phone and see where things are at. It’s awesome.
Battery life is great also. Out of the box you should be able to get ~24 hours of continuous runtime. Last year my OG Fireboard had plenty of battery left after smoking a brisket for 12-16 hours.
Well worth the price of admission. Enjoy your new device. Share links to the cook once it’s fired up!
I have a comparable pit viper fan with their vent plate that is specific to my Primo XL Oval. Should be plug and play.
