OU student essay, Penn Square OAK lawsuit top news in Oklahoma City
Got a minute? Catch up on the biggest news that happened this week in Oklahoma and OKC.
The Cheesecake Factory’s corporate interest in Oklahoma City is looking to grow as the brand seeks to bring another dining option to Penn Square Mall.
North Italia — which was acquired by The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated in 2019 — first filed building permits to open a location at OAK, but later withdrew that application and is now set to build in the location formerly occupied by OKC favorite The Pepperoni Grill, which closed its doors in May.
The filing of the building permit came just ahead of a lawsuit filed on behalf of OAK developers alleging Penn Square’s developers blocked deals, claims Penn Square owners Simon Property Group deny.
North Italia, which was founded more than 20 years ago in Scottsdale, Arizona, is known for handmade Italian cuisine, including daily from-scratch pastas and hand-tossed pizzas, seasonal entrees, craft cocktails and more.
But, when it arrives, North Italia will by no means be the only option for dining while you shop. Here’s a look at the other spots to grab a bite at Penn Square Mall.
What restaurants are there at Penn Square Mall?
Penn Square Mall’s dining options currently include three sit-down anchor restaurants in addition to a number of food court options.
Texas de Brazil
The only large restaurant with its dining space currently located inside the mall’s premises, Texas de Brazil offers all-you-can eat Brazilian churrascaria.
The Cheesecake Factory
Located in the mall’s Western parking lot, The Cheesecake Factory offers more than 200 menu items made from scratch daily, meaning there’s sure to be something for everyone in every party.
Whiskey Cake Kitchen and Bar
While also not physically in the mall, Whiskey Cake is located just outside of the mall’s South entrances in the parking lot and offers a menu of farm-to-kitchen, scratch-only dining options, many cooked over live wood fire.
Food court and quick-bite options at Penn Square Mall
In addition to the three dine-in restaurants at Penn Square, there are 20 local and national vendors throughout the mall offering service in the food court and as quick-stop convenience options.
