Just came back from a RD where the Refrigeration vent was dripping like a pint a minute of liquid onto some potatoes, and then onto the ginger. An employee looked at it and walked away lol

This is why you find a semi-competent FoH person and make them ship for you

There’s a wholesaler in England called ‘Bookers’ that’s ran by the same company that own Tesco

I have an irrational hatred of it .. though that was moreso down to my inexperienced owner at my last job buying literal crap from it that led to me having to babysit him on bookers runs .. 😭

He’s doing quite well now with his hospitality businesses and we are on good terms still, so that’s cool.

You think buying from there is bad? Try delivering there. Those dudes are always sitting around

I agree RD sucks, but when your vendor screws up and drops something vital from your order it does come in handy.

  6. The depot thrives off chaos. But this can be combatted by going in assuming it will be a shit show. The depot also smells weakness or fear. Good manners and basic decency goes miles and may result in heavily discounted items because of a lack of “give a fuck” by the employees.

  7. Hahahahahahahahahahaha this brought me so many memories

I love dodging their 30ft tall forklifts being driven at full speed

Ace Mart is the best all my homies love Ace Mart.

My RD in San Marcos, CA is actually really great and I love them. Wonderful selection, beautiful seafood, decent dry goods area. The customer service is great. I’m sorry they are catching so much hate elsewhere, but RD is pretty decent

I temped there and was absolutely brutalized, in the freezer.

If the staff doesn’t get you with the forklift, the family business using all their children to operate a train of carts piled 9 feet high with fry oil will take you out. Don’t go in there without steel toes and a “safety meeting”

Yeah they caught me slipping a week ago and charged me $14 for 6 heads of romaine. RD is a hoe that is not to be trusted, but a hoe that’s there for me when I need it

There’s a Restaurant Depot in my city with the stupidest possible layout where the delivery docks are right up on the street, causing trucks to always block traffic when they’re backing in. It’s on my route and I’ve had to turn around more than once because of it. Stupid idiot place can’t even be designed right.

The meat manager was visibly angry and rude because I returned some spoiled pork shoulder that they had sold me an hour earlier

  17. t3hnosp0on

Idk why but any time I interact with any of their employees, I get the terrifying aura that if my sentence contains more than ten words I will find myself on the wrong end of a murder-suicide. All forklifts are driven by people who wish a mfker would. It’s like the closest a store can get to infinite ikea scp without actually being science fiction.

Apparently my culinary school ID is enough to let me shop there is It really that bad I’d heard good things before?

  19. SubTester2023

HA! Coming from 6 years being a freight broker, the transportation industry hates them too.

  20. Bizarro_Murphy

I literally work less than 2000ft from a Restaurant Depot and I have never once set foot in Restaurant Depot. I guess I should consider myself lucky
