Hi everyone!
I need some advice about my Carolina Reaper plants because I can’t figure out whether their growth is normal or if I’m doing something wrong.
The leaves are small and the fruits are also quite small. What’s interesting is that since I moved the plants indoors for winter and started using fertilizer (about a week ago), they’ve exploded with new flowers and baby peppers. They’re producing a lot right now, but everything is still small — I don’t know if they’ll grow bigger or stay this size.
Some context and mistakes on my part:
• I barely used any fertilizer until last week.
• The plants were outside until recently, then I brought them indoors because of the cold.
• They get direct sunlight in the morning, and in the afternoon I use a grow light.
• They are less than a year old.
• The red peppers currently on the plant are late-season fruits that started forming when the weather was already getting cooler, around October/mid-October.
• This is their first fruiting cycle.
Since moving them indoors and finally fertilizing, the plants have gone crazy with new growth — lots of flowers and tiny peppers everywhere — but the leaves and fruits are still smaller than I’d expect from a Carolina Reaper.
I’ve also attached some photos, including two close-ups where I placed my finger next to the peppers for scale: one shows a “typical” pepper from the plant, and the other shows the largest one (which is still quite small).
Is this normal for a first fruiting, especially after some stress and inconsistent fertilization?
Could the small size be due to the season, the previous lack of nutrients, or the plant still adjusting after moving indoors?
Any advice or insight would be really appreciated! 🌶️🙏🌱

Im not sure on the specifics but i definitely also notice my pepper plants doing this when I overwinter them(When they arent infested with bugs that is.)
Needs more fertilizer, the leaves could be more green. Make sure it gets lots of light inside.
I’ve found that when I bring my outdoor plants inside (or clone them), the indoor-grown peppers have much smaller pods. Probably due to not having strong enough light! But they still taste good and spicy even when small. Probably not as spicy as sun grown outdoor pods, though!
