All of these sugar cookies were on the same tray. 350 F for only 2 minutes in, the oven started to send out stress signals beep non stop. It’s been a good almost 25 years without a single problem. RIP Kenmore oven. You’ve been an absolute trooper to work with

OMG, I’d be so mad it couldn’t wait until after the holidays!

Oh no! On Thanksgiving day this year, our kenmore oven decided to enter self cleaning mode on its own and LOCK. We had to disconnect it but it stayed locked. Ordered a new one the next day, luckily we got a Black Friday deal and luckily we were done baking for the day!

  5. dby0226

So sorry it happened! On a humorous note, it looks like the third one tried to flip off the oven!

That’s wild! This almost looks like one of those “how do you like your toast” posts

My oven went the night before I had a cake due. Ran to my local refurbisher and bought one ready to go from them.

24 years for an oven is pretty darn good. Old Kenmore appliances outlast just about everything else.

I still have my old Kenmore oven. I don’t even know how old it is, but I’d guess it’s at least 20-25 years old. It’s beat up and it looks crappy, but it still works great. I absolutely love the thing. Lol.

My parents also have a Kenmore fridge in their basement that they got when they got married 37 year ago. It’s still working perfectly today.

I’m jealous of my mom, she has a stove from the 60s that is still going strong.

Third from the left seems to be in good spirits though.

Word to the wise, *do not* replace with a Samsung oven. I greatly regret mine.

  14. Rayochii

It’s so diverse and inclusive 😳 (all jokes aside, you tried your best! Honestly the whole array looks beautiful)

First on the left giving a thumbs-up, while the third one is flipping someone off

**Your oven might not be toast!** It’s probably an easy fix, whether you do it yourself or call an appliance repair service.

Just looking at your cookies, it’s a good guess that the temperature sensor in the oven is busted. A new sensor will probably cost around $50. If you want to DIY the repair, find the model number for your oven and google something like “kenmore oven model <model number> temperature sensor” to find the part number. There are also a variety of sources you could search, like [partselect.com](http://partselect.com), and [searspartsdirect.com](http://searspartsdirect.com) . Once you have the part number, you can buy a new sensor from those sites, or just google the part number, or search for an appliance parts dealer in your city. A local dealer is actually the best option because they’re often happy to give you advice about completing the repair, they’ll tell you if there are any other parts that you should replace at the same time, and if you buy the wrong part they’re usually happy to take a return or exchange for the right one.

Home appliances are often surprisingly simple once you look inside. They’re designed to be assembled quickly, so a lot of parts just snap into place or use a couple screws, and wires typically plug into something obvious. And YouTube is a great source of videos that’ll show you what to do: searching for “kenmore oven temperature sensor replacement” yields [lots of promising videos](https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kenmore+oven+temperature+sensor+replacement). And of course Reddit will have your back: r/appliancerepair.

If you’re hesitant to DIY, call a repair guy. It’ll cost more than doing it yourself, but you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing it’s done right, and it’ll still cost a lot less than buying and installing a whole new oven.

The little guy is flipping the bird 😂

Oh no, at least when mine died after 16 years, it just decided to take an hour to preheat. It still baked pretty evenly once it got to temp, and it happened in summer.

  19. bettyknockers786

Mine has been getting toastier on the right side recently… precursor to failure?

  20. Rowan6547

Omg. That’s wild. And I’m so sorry on your behalf because ovens are insanely expensive right now.

Mine has a short so the light bulb doesn’t work and consistently heats 25 degrees too high. But at least it’s still baking evenly. I hope to get another 10 years.

RIP why do they choose to bite the dust at the worst time? Years ago we had a wall oven that worked perfectly for years and then decided to crap out during Thanksgiving dinner. It kept shutting off with the turkey cooking inside. We had 20 people over for dinner.

It would turn back on if you opened the door and banged it shut a time or two, so anyone passing by and noticing the oven was off would restart it. BANG! BANG!

We cooked a 22 lb turkey that way. Got the faulty control board repaired soon after and the oven lasted another 10 years.

  22. coffeejn

Sounds like it started a self-cleaning cycle for some reason.

  23. GalaxyPowderedCat

That oven could basically have a baby of its own.

  24. CountryBronze

It took you 25 years to make 7 cookies? I would have replaced it sooner

  25. NickNoraCharles

Oh, no! Looks like the little fellow third from the left was trying to flag down a rescue <3

  26. EveningZealousideal6

On the bright side you have very Inclusive cookies

  27. catsloveart

You might be able to offset the temperature Setting. So it more close to the knob setting

  28. Skarvha

o7 at least he went out doing something he loved!

A little icing, call it a toasted gingerbread man.  No one will know it wasn’t intentional.  😅
