A seared salmon with some rice and green beans. I got the ingredients at target and probably spent under $20.
Half of a salmon: $10, and it was already cut into about 6 filets
Green beans: $4 for 12oz, you can probably find that cheaper somewhere else
Rice: $2 for a 1 lb bag, I probably could’ve gotten a bigger bag for a more wholesale price
So for what makes about 4-5 dinners, it only cost me ≈$4 per plate. Not bad, especially for how good it tastes.

Very nice!
I think the salmon price is pretty good, but i agree that you could probably find rice & green beans (or other vegetables) for less elsewhere, BUT you have to factor time and fuel going to multiple stores, unless they’re conveniently located.
Just a little dish I came up by combining a few different recipes around the interred. This was my first time cooking all three of these ingredients, so it was a bit scary.
Rice Just brought 1 cup of white grain rice to a boil then killed the heat and kept it on low while I was doing the salmon. Probably around 15 minutes, but rice is easy, cook however you like. I finished it off with some garlic salt, black pepper, chile powder, soy sauce, and the oil I cooked the salmon into. Just moved it around with a fork.
Salmon and Green Beans Poured a bit of oil into a pan on medium, then laid my salmon skin side down. Seasoned the other side with salt, garlic salt, and black pepper. Kept it on that side for about 4 minutes and a half. Then I flipped it and moved it to the side so I could put the green beans in. Seasoned the green beans and finished both parts in another 3 minutes. If I were to make it again, I’d probably use a little less oil and cook the green beans a bit less, they weren’t as crispy as I wanted them. I’d also probably season the skin side as well.
Plate and throw a bit of lemon on top, and enjoy.
This takes me back 20+ years when I was driving my friend back to college. This was her go to meal and she made it for me for bringing her back with some stuff from home.
How much salmon did you get for $10? It sounds like you got a a pretty good deal. The cheapest salmon I can get is $10/lb.
Also FYI Walmart and Target both have rice for <$1/lb.
